About the event

This session will help create awareness regarding supporting gifted and talented students by busting myths about them and around gifted education. The talk will focus on 3 myths:

  1. All gifted individuals are high achievers
  2. Gifted individuals do not face problems and challenges
  3. Gifted individuals don't need extra support to succeed.

About the Guest Speaker:

Sameena Manasawala has completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology from M.S. University, Baroda. She is in the final phase of submitting her doctoral thesis (gifted identification, self-concept, academic achievement).  Sameena heads the nurturing domain at Kaveri Gifted Education and Research Center and has about 10 years of experience in supporting the needs of those who are intellectually gifted through small group activities,  individual counselling as well as offering guidance to parents.  She has worked extensively with children in the age group of 8 years and above in the areas of social skills, behavioral challenges, and high emotional sensitivity and intensity. Having worked in the school set-up she is familiar with challenges related to academics and particularly underachievement in children and adolescents.
