About the event

The talk on systems thinking will focus on a theoretical and conceptual understanding of systems and how it shapes our personal and professional lives and cultures. This knowledge about the interconnections of systems is relevant to all settings personal and professional such as families, workplaces, national and international organizational settings, cultures, and countries. This information is beneficial for professionals and students in multidisciplinary fields: psychologists, sociologists, social workers, victimologists, criminologists, public health, and professionals from humanities and allied sciences.

About the expert:

Dr. Manjushree Palit is an Associate Professor & Associate Dean of the Jindal School of Psychology and Counselling. She has a Ph.D. in Human Development with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a mental health professional with 16 years of experience in counseling people: individuals, couples, and families. She has clinical, teaching, research, grant-writing, and administrative experience. She has worked in diverse work settings: non-profit organizations in both India and United States, and academic institutions in the United States and India. She has worked in India as a counselor and social worker in two non-profit organizations [PopulationsServices International (PSI) and the Indian Association for Promotion ofAdoption & Child Welfare (IAPA)]. In the United States, she worked at the family Therapy Centre at Virginia Tech, The Houston Galveston Institute (HGI, a non-profit organization).  Both in India and United States, she has worked with individuals, couples, and families from different social class, race, age, education, religious, cultural, and sexual orientations with myriad concerns: relational, substance abuse and addictions, psychiatric and mental health issues, pain, medication and lifestyle management, intrapersonal concerns, treatment and rehabilitation, and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. She has imparted many psychoeducation and professional development training programs and published her scholarly work(books, book chapters, and journal publications) in peer-reviewed and reputed national and international journals.
